A man has been charged regarding the death of young father Jack Trainner in Port Glasgow.
The 27-year-old dad of two was discovered gravely injured in the seaside town’s Brookfield Road at approximately 9.05 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in relation to Jack’s death and is scheduled to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court tomorrow, Thursday, May 9. A report will soon be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
Police cordoned off a significant section of the street for their investigation. Officers in high-visibility gear were stationed at various points of the cordon, and residents had to register to access their homes.
Forensic and uniformed officers were observed at a residence on the street.
Devastated family and friends expressed their sorrow and shock over Jack’s untimely demise on social media in the following days. Nadia Carter wrote on Facebook: “Your babies will always love you.
“I can’t believe I have to tell our babies you’ve gone to heaven, it just doesn’t seem real – love you forever Jack Trainner.” Kyle Campbell added: “Jack Trainner, where to start, brother. I’m sorry it ended this way.
“I always hoped things would turn out different. I’m grateful for all you did for me, the lessons you taught me, everything we shared, I could continue but it still wouldn’t do justice to the brother/friend you were.
“You had a golden heart, brother, and I’ll never be able to thank you enough. Life won’t be the same without you, until we meet again brother, rest easy.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: “A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Jack Trainner in Port Glasgow.
“Officers responded to a call at about 9.05 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024, following reports of a man seriously injured on Brookfield Road.
“Emergency teams arrived and 27-year-old Jack Trainner was declared deceased at the location.
“The 23-year-old is set to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court tomorrow, and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
