A family is making an emotional plea for information after a father went missing from a Scottish island.
William McKinstry, 40, was last seen on the Isle of Arran, where he boarded a ferry to Troon on Tuesday, April 23. His last known location was on Prestwick Road in Ayr at around 8:10 am on Wednesday, according to authorities.
William’s family, increasingly worried about his safety, are seeking help from the public to locate him. He is described as 5ft 9” with short black hair, and he was wearing a dark blue top with ‘LBR Roofing’ written in white letters.
In a post on Facebook, his daughter pleaded, “Please come home dad everyone is worried.” A cousin also appealed, saying, “Come on cuz, please let someone know you’re okay.”
Police Scotland shared a CCTV image showing William boarding the ferry on Tuesday, asking for anyone with information to come forward. Sergeant Martin Lawrie expressed the growing concern over William’s wellbeing, indicating that the missing man could be in the Ayr area but might have traveled elsewhere after his last known sighting.
“We are appealing to anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to please get in touch,” Sergeant Lawrie said. “Our enquiries suggest he could be in the Ayr area, but he might have traveled elsewhere. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4020 of Tuesday, April 23, 2024.”
